14 Days Best of Uganda Safari

 

Day 1: Arrival
Meet and greet at Entebbe International Airport by our Guide who will transfer you to your hotel, you will be briefed about your safari. Depending on the time of arrival and departure for your safari you will be advised to have money changed, time allowing you will get to know Kampala, you can visit some of the landmarks in town with the help of our driver/guide. Dinner and over night stay at Golf Course View Hotel Entebbe. BB

Day 2: Start our best Uganda Safari to Murchison Falls National Park
Drive northwest early morning through the famous Luwero Triangle and Masindi Town to Murchison Falls National Park, we shall have our lunch enroute most probably in Masindi.  In the afternoon visit the top of the Falls where you can see the Nile’s beauty perfected!  On shinny days the rainbow will be very present. After these stunning views we shall carry on and check in at our hotel for dinner and over night – Nile, Paraa Safari or Sambiya River Lodge, for two nights.

Day 3: Morning Game drive and afternoon launch cruise along the Nile
Early morning game drive on the northern bank.  Work together with your guide in finding game like the elephant, lion, cape buffalo, Roth child’s giraffe, hartebeest, waterbuck, oribi, bushbuck, bohor reed buck, hyena and if you are lucky, the leopard.  After lunch, go for a boat safari upstream the calm Victoria Nile to the base of the falls stopping just tens of meters from the ‘Devil’s Cauldron’, marvel at the toothsome hippos, crocodiles and over the 17km stretch you may see elephant, waterbuck and Uganda Kob.  This is also the zone of many birds, species like goliath heron, Egyptian goose, pelican, bee-eater, kingfisher, hornbill, cormorant and much more.  After taking shorts of the photogenic Murchison Falls. There will be an optional late evening game drive which gives us more chances of seeing nocturnal species like cats and nightjars. FB

Day 4: Transfer to Fort Portal
All day drive south via Hoima to Fort Portal through the countryside and pass traditional homesteads and farms. Fort Portal rests in the shadow of the fabled ‘Mountains of the Moon’. Dinner and overnight at Ndali, Primate or Rwenzori View Guest House.  FB

Day 5: Chimp and other primate walk
After breakfast we visit Kibale Forest National Park, which is reputed to have the greatest variety and highest concentration of primates in East Africa. Enjoy a guided nature walk in the tropical rainforest in search of the habituated chimpanzees, red-tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys and many others. After lunch we explore the Crater Lake region, which has many crater lakes. Later back to the lodge for dinner an over night stay.  FB

Day 6: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park following the mystical Rwenzori Mountain Range.  A game drive enroute always gives us results of lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo, hyena and a variety of antelope species.  Enjoy the unique 2-hour boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel into Lake Edward.  This trip passes through possibly the highest concentration of hippos.  This launch/cruise offers and excellent platform for photography, bird watching and game viewing.  The prolific bird life is colorful and stupendous, with well over 550 resident species.  Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge or Hostels, for two nights FB

Day 7
Queen Elizabeth National Park’s diverse eco-system of grassy plains, tropical forest, rivers, swamps, lakes and volcanic craters is home to an incredible abundance of wildlife.  Have an early morning Game drive where you have an opportunity to view the massive Rwenzori as backdrop, which provides excellent opportunities to see lion, leopard, giant forest hog, cape buffalo, elephant, defassa waterbuck, Uganda Kob, topi and bushbuck.  These two game drives and the boat trip (taken prior) are memorable ways of discovering a vast array of Ugandan wildlife.  After stretching our legs, we visit the bat cave and hunters cave where we take a close look at the bats, rock python and forest cobras. The same walk will provide a chance of seeing birds, primates, tree species etc. FB

 


Day 8: Transfer to the Gorilla sanctuary
Drive through the ‘Switzerland of Africa’ or the Kigezi Highlands with its terraced hillside and winding roads to Bwindi through the Ishasha sector where you will have an opportunity to see the tree climbing lions.  Dinner and overnight stay at Gorilla Resort or Buhoma Community Bandas for 3 nights. Day 9: Gorilla Tracking
Early morning entry into the gorilla sanctuary.  The rainforest is spectacular.  It offers a dramatic, steeply forested landscape and is incredibly dense, but crisscrossed by numerous animal’s trails allowing access to tourists.  Mammals recorded include the endangered Mt. Gorilla, rare golden monkey, buffalo, elephant, black-fronted duiker, bushbuck, leopard, giant forest hog and others.  This park is best known for the fascinating gorillas. The time taken and the terrain varies according to the movements of the marvelous primates.  The thrill of spending time and observing the gorillas is a rare moving, awesome and exciting adventure.  The gorilla is a shy and peaceful animal and it is an unforgettable experience to watch and photograph them as they interact.  FB

Day 10
As an option, participants can have another gorilla hike at an extra 500USD at the time of booking or have a guided nature walk in Bwindi and choose from one of the 5 trails or the Village walk. We can have the evening at leisure or do more hikes. FB

Day 11: Tranafer to Lake Bunyonyi
After a rigorous day at Bwindi, most clients will welcome some relaxing moments on the shores of this peaceful lake. The options here are birding, cycling, swimming or canoeing. Dinner and overnight at Arcadia Cottages. FB

Day 12: Lake Mburo National park
After breakfast, we drive around 4 hours to Lake Mburo National Park. A game drive today will enable us to see the zebras, topis, elephants, elands, impalas, buffaloes etc. Dinner and overnight at Mihingo, Mantana or Arcadia Cottages. FB

Day 13: Jinja Via Kampala
After an early morning breakfast, we drive via Kampala to Jinja where we visit the Source of the River Nile. Places to visit are Bujagali Falls, the Source of the Nile and a number of fishing villages. Dinner and overnight at Jinja Nile Resort or Gately on the Nile

Day 14  
City tour (depending on flight time) and departure. Tour again with us.
