Exceptional Primate Expedition

 

Day 1

Arrival and transfer to your specific hotel where the guide will give a detailed briefing about this exclusive short but enjoyable primate safari. Overnight at Golf Course Hotel or Sophie’s Motel. BB

Day 2
After breakfast, transfer to Fort Portal with a stop over for lunch en-route. We shall use the Fort Portal Mubende road where we have higher chances of seeing primates before we get to our destination for example the Blue, Red Colobus, Black and White plus the grey cheeked mangabey. Overnight at, Primate, Ndali Lodge or Rwenzori View Guest House. FB

Day 3 Chimp tracking

After Breakfast go for chimpanzee tracking.  You will also see other primates including l’hoestes, red colobus, blue red tailed and gray cheeked mangabey.  Enjoy the services of our guide who will give you detailed information on primates, forest, flora and fauna. Afternoon visit to Bigodi swamp, see other mammals and primates including the rare red Columbus monkey and the sitatunga.  Overnight at Primate, Ndali Lodge or Rwenzori View Guest House. FB

Day 4: Transfer to the Gorilla Sanctuary

Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest by driving through the ‘Switzerland of Africa’ area known as Kigezi Highlands with its terraced hillside and winding roads.  Pass through Ishasha where you will have an opportunity to see the tree climbing lions or take the alternative route through the cultivated area. Overnight at Gorilla Resort Camp or Buhoma Community Bandas. FB

Day 5

Early morning entry into the gorilla sanctuary.  The rainforest is spectacular.  It offers a dramatic, steeply forested landscape and is incredibly dense, but crisscrossed by numerous animal’s trails allowing access to tourists.  Mammals recorded include the endangered Mt. Gorilla, rare golden monkey, buffalo, elephant, black-fronted duiker, bushbuck, leopard, giant forest hog and others.  This park is best known for the fascinating gorillas. The time taken and the terrain varies according to the movements of the marvelous primates.  The thrill of spending time and observing the gorillas is a rare moving, awesome and exciting adventure.  The gorilla is a shy and peaceful animal and it is an unforgettable experience on the whole African continent to watch and photograph them as they interact.  Overnight stay at Gorilla Forest Camp or L. Kitandara Tented Camp. FB


Day 6

After breakfast, we drive to Lake Mburo National Park. A game drive today will enable us to see the zebras, topis, elephants, elands, impalas, buffaloes etc. Dinner and overnight at Mantana luxury tented camp or Arcadia Cottages. Today’s primates will include among others the Black Faced Valvet, Olive Baboon and on lucky days we always find the hard to differentiate Tantalus monkey from the valvet. On the night drice we are most likely to encounter Gallagos and Bush babies. FB

Day 7

After breakfast, Leisurely drive back to Kampala with a stop over for lunch en-route or with a picnic lunch.  Stop at the Mpigi Royal Drum Makers en-route where you will be able to watch the ceremonial drums being crafted using methods passed down through the generations.  There will also be time to stop at the Equator for photographs.  From here we drive direct to Entebbe International Airport ready to catch your Flight back home.
